Steampunk gals

It's an old illustration, for a steampunk thieves concept, very similar to treasure island's story design, but I just never got around to finishing them. Enjoy =)

I really do want to use them in a game or something one day.

"Runaway" Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Technically I made this 2-3 days ago, but this sketch was literally made after listening to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs song 'Runaway".

Originally it was going to be an Alice tribute, but I felt nothing really connected that image to her, so I kept it to just being the song. And low and behold, the weekly theme matches it =)

2hrs in Photoshop

Oh and as for the Video Game girl theme, I had no chance to make a new one, but here's an old favorite:

And the Catgirl theme:

Sasha Palacio - "Noir Fleur"

I was unable to drop off my piece in time and so was unable to be a part of the show, but I still made the piece for Hoity Toity, so here is my piece! =)

It's traditionally made, with Graphite, Blue animation pencil, and a Pink color pencil. Here's a shot of it framed with me and my Fiance, we were dressed and ready to go to the show too =). But yea, this weeks theme = awesome, and I really hope I get to it! And all the back-ups =P

An update by the elusive Sasha Palacio

Sorry for the disappearing act I was playing, but I HAVE been drawing, just a little late to update =P I actually find myself updating my Facebook page more regularly, since it's quick n' simple, and can be done through my phone =]. You can actually see my all my sketches I've been doing there: The Art of Sasha Palacio So here I have my latest addition to the 100 Girls.

29-100 "Tsunami" Originally a concept for a Japan inspired piece for an art show, but never used, so I gave her a home in the 100 girls =)

30-100 "Yvette" A piece I did during Drink and Draw at Comic-Con this year.

31-100 "Circe" A piece I did at the Drink and Draw event that happens every Thursday night at Casey's Bar in LA.

32-100 "Sophie" She was going to be a viera from final fantasy tactics, but just became a nude girl =P Another piece done at Drink and Draw.

33-100 "Amelia" my French Maid for this weeks theme. A 10-15 minute sketch in Photoshop. He just wants to cuddle =P

It's an old piece, but I'll submit it towards last weeks theme, Pirates! This is Morgana, she's a devious sky pirate. Original character and world =)

And recently, for a group and website I'm part of, PixelDrip, asked their members to design themselves as a game character for our artist page. The site is still under development, but the blog is active and shows lots of awesome stuff related to games and art. So for my avatar, I chose Ezio from Assassin's Creed II, his costume makes me tingle =P The game is AMAZING, but anyway, I wanted to post it here because I designed it to be a pin-up version of me as Ezio, to kinda sum up my style and what I like to draw =) Enjoy! Oh and did a black version based of the unlockable Black Outfit for Ezio in-game that I love soooooo much.

I hope to be more active and post when I have something, that way I don't continue to post large late blog entries and push all the great art further down... I'm sorry!

Mermaiden

Apparently, the GDG gals really love the Mermaid theme =P I think any time we've had it, almost everyone draws something =D

Well, here is my mermaid, I personally like the mermaids that look a little more fishy or nymph-like, but I draw most any type. I still neeeeeeeeeed to draw an octomaid, a octopus-type mermaid =P

Oh and this is girl 26/100 - Myrna

Full view for detail, and I will color this up sometime =) But until then, anyone is welcome to =P Just let me know!

GDG Artist Spotlight: Sasha Palacio

This week, we talk to GDG's Sasha Palacio, one of our Los Angeles based members! Sasha's first GDG piece is in Vol III: Sugar & Spice and illustrates the SEXIEST Peaches 'n Cream you've ever seen! Keep an eye out for more of her amazing artwork in upcoming shows and in one of GDG's many upcoming projects!

Welcome to the Girls Drawin Girls Spotlight, Sasha!

1. What's your name?
Sasha Marina Palacio Cambrelen, or just Sasha Palacio =P

2. Where are you originally from, and where do you live now?
I'm originally from and live in Pasadena, CA. I'm in absolute Love with this city, from it's 1800s history, growth, design and humble yet big city-like qualities. Sure it's a pain to live in financially, but it's worth it for me. I want to keep Pasadena as my hometown forever, but I do want to live in Tokyo, Japan for a few years.

3. What do you do for a living when you're not drawing sexy pinups?
I make art assets for various art related products at Sunken Media LLC, but iPhone App art and Logos at the moment. But in other words, make video games =) I wish I could've said Biologist or Astronomer... but those careers take to long to get a degree =P

4. What's your favorite medium to work in?
Back in 2001 I was introduced to Photoshop, ever since then I've been in love with the digital medium. I love drawing in Graphite, Acrylic, Watercolors and Chalk/Conte traditionally, but never had the money, space or time to work in them, aside from school, where the assets were readily available to me. Not to mention I have a very unstable hand which usually damages my traditional art... So Photoshop has helped me in many ways. Ctrl+Z

5. Why do you think the pinup girl has such a timeless, wide appeal?
I personally believe the 40s-50s were probably the best time of design and art. The style was timeless and was made purely for aesthetics more then good design, that is to say the they weren't design perfectly to begin with. I love 1880s and 1920s designs/art as well, but I feel like out of all time lines, Pinup art stands out above the rest. Pinup immortalized beauty, strength, and sexiness in a simple, pure, and stylized fashion.

6. Define what "sexy" means to you.
If a person shows confidence, fortitude, intelligence, flair, ambitious, and is provocative, and bodacious, they constitute as one Sexy individual. I generally believe any person of any physique and ethnicity can be consider Sexy, especially if they themselves believe they are.

7. What's your biggest goal/ambition as an artist?
I strive to become a well-known, respected, and admired Character Designer in Video Games. I want to be the person behind the incredible creation of a great Character. I want players tofall in love with, cry with, laugh with, and fight with the Character through their epic adventures. I want that one day I'll see a character of mine cosplayed at a convention. I want to be admired and revered as an artist in general, but as "that" artist with the amazing female character designs!

8. Why do you like drawing ladies?
Why not! The female form is such an example of beauty, grace, curves, life, and imagination. The flexibility and endless creative possibilities makes it a perfect candidate for art, film, music and more! The way the female form guides my hand as I draw makes feel so serene, sincere, and adventurous, no matter if the context is sad or happy. There's a reason why women have been considered the muses for arts, wars, and the growth of civilizations.

9. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
The World! I want to eventually see the world, but at this moment, I want to revisit Japan. I feel like I left my soul in the gorgeous Country and hope to go back one day. Otherwise, I need to at least go to: Colombia, Puerto Rico, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Egypt, and Spain. My original plan was to travel the world, get real old, and then sail/fly to the Bermuda Triangle with my Husband, that way if anything does happen, I at least have company I love and no regrets =P But! If I'm still alive when space travel is possible to the public, I want to go to Pluto, my lonely and cold (dwarf >=/) planet. That is if I had to choose one, otherwise, all of them!

10. Name three artists who have influenced you and/or you admire.
Alphonse Mucha, William Bouguereau, Yukito Kiishiro, Alberto Vargas, Range Murata, Hayao Miyazaki, Jo Chen, Jason Chan, Adam Hughes, Frank Cho, Alessandro Barbucci, Barbara Canepa, Xavier Ramonède, and Galou ~Sailor Moon: Naoko Takeuchi, Ikuko Itoh, and Katsumi Tamegai. There is plenty more, not to mention quite a few gals from Girls Drawin' Girls as well, but I figured I don't want to go on forever!
