Gag Me With A Toon 3 at Meltdown Comics

This is my first post and I am very excited to be a new member!

I have an art piece in the group art show Gag Me With A Toon 3 at Meltdown Comics in Hollywood.

The theme of this show is 70s & 80s cartoons in which the artists re-interpret their favorite cartoons.

I chose my favorite 80s cartoon rock star Jem and gave her a vintage Art Deco style. My work is influenced by the 1920s, and Jem is all glamor and decadence. Painted with Gouache.

She is actually one diety who takes shape in three different forms: her other forms are Chak Chel and Young Moon Goddess.

Day of the Dead (Dia de los muertos) is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd. It is a time to remember deceased loved ones and honor them. Day of the Dead is a festive and colorful occasion; a time to celebrate life!

The exhibition this year includes over 40 artists who have created original acrylic. oil and watercolor paintings, assemblage, paper mache, etching, sculpture, mosaic, printmaking and mixed media works on canvas and wood.

The reception for our 6th Annual Dia de los muertos exhibit and celebration coincides with our area's artwalk. NELAart Second Saturday Gallery Night is a self-guided tour of the galleries, non-profits and artist run project spaces located in Northeast Los Angeles (NELA). We are dedicated to increase the visibility of the thriving arts community in the area.
