GDG Artist Spotlight: Kali Fontecchio

This week, we talk to GDG's Kali Fontecchio, one of our newest members! She's already posted some AWESOME drawings up here to the blog, and we'll definitely be enlisting her talents for one of GDG's many upcoming projects!

Welcome to the Girls Drawin Girls Spotlight, Kali!

1. What's your name?
My full name is, Kali Lomasi Fontecchio! Sometimes, Kali "Two Sheds" Fontecchio.

2. Where are you originally from, and where do you live now?
I'm originally from El Segundo California! Now I live in...BURBANK California! Big move.

3. What do you do for a living when you're not drawing sexy pinups?
Storyboards, layouts and character designs!

4. What's your favorite medium to work in?
Markers! I looooooooove markers. I love watercolor and cel paint too, but markers are easy and breezy.
5. Why do you think the pinup girl has such a timeless, wide appeal?
Since the beginning of time, pinups have bestowed men boners. What a funny thing some organized lines on a piece of paper can do!

6. Define what "sexy" means to you.
Something that gets your pheromones stirring! But specifically it means something that's arousing. What do I find sexy? The song "Faster and Faster" by Devo more then anything else on the planet.

7. What's your biggest goal/ambition as an artist?
To make others happy (and myself). Fun, and happy pretty things!

8. Why do you like drawing ladies?
Ladies are the prettiest creatures that have ever existed! I love to draw the pretty, they deserve it!

9. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
Four places: Japan, Ireland, Iceland and Italy!

Japan definitely because of the art and fashion (and amazing swap meets I've heard about). Ireland for its gorgeous landscape and endless green hills. Iceland because of their hot springs and modern seaside towns. And lastly Italy, specifically the town of Fontecchio, which has some of Italy's oldest fountains and clocks!

10. Name three artists who have influenced you and/or you admire.
John Kricfalusi, Mark Mothersbaugh, and Mel Crawford!
