Welcome to the Girls Drawin Girls Spotlight, Alina!
1. What's your name?
Alina Chau
2. Where are you originally from, and where do you live now?
I am originally from Hong Kong and now live in Los Angeles, CA.
3. What do you do for a living when you're not drawing sexy pinups?
I am a 3D animator, concept and storyboard artist.
4. What's your favorite medium to work in?
Watercolor and Photoshop
5. Why do you think the pinup girl has such a timeless, wide appeal?
They are fun and playful. Pin up arts also reflects the image and social value of the time period, they could be quite interesting.
6. Define what "sexy" means to you.
Inner beauty and seductiveness.
7. What's your biggest goal/ambition as an artist?
To be recognize and appreciated as an artist, and not being judge by the work I did for studios. Oooh ... wait ... scratch that ... I have a better idea!! Making a comfy living from traveling and painting around the world. Did anyone know if Travel Channel or any Travel show need an artist to travel along and draw?! Please let me know, if there is a job like that, I am soooooo IN!!
8. Why do you like drawing ladies?
Girls are fun to draw. Plus I get to design pretty clothes for the characters. It's like shopping, but FREE!! Sometimes I give the characters expensive clothes and jewelries I like, but can't afford or design which I like a whole lot, but just doesn't look good on me ... it's "meditating"! LOL
9. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
Oh Boy ... I love travel ... give me the entire globe please. And seriously ... don't mind to get pay to travel around the world ... How does Samantha Brown get her job?!
10. Name three artists who have influenced you and/or you admire.
This is a very difficult questions, the actual list is super long ... but if I have to narrow down ... I will have to say - Frederic Back, Hayap Miyazaki and my grandma.
