I don't even
After getting tons of love for sketch #3 and coming to terms with my personal love for #1 (as well as issues I had with #3 not making as much sense below the waist), I tried consolidating what I felt were the stronger aspects of both into one drawing. I liked the tension in 3, as well as the attitude, but I felt that extended leg in 1 was super necessary (floating amputee lah??) and read better. So this happened, and I've been looking at it for so long I don't even know what I'm looking at anymore. TIME TO STEP BACK.
Also, sunglasses: yes/no?

From Brooklyn NY, still living in Brooklyn, NY
3. What do you do for a living when you're not drawing sexy pinups?
3. What do you do for a living when you're not drawing sexy pinups?
I am a graphic artist for a childrens clothing company in New York City
4. What's your favorite medium to work in?
4. What's your favorite medium to work in?
My first and most favorite is oil paint, but I also love working
with Illustrator. i like the graphic look of it, and i like that you
don't have to wait for it to dry :)
5. Why do you think the pinup girl has such a timeless, wide appeal?
with Illustrator. i like the graphic look of it, and i like that you
don't have to wait for it to dry :)
5. Why do you think the pinup girl has such a timeless, wide appeal?
Because everybody likes looking at images of young, cute, carefree
girls being happy and having fun. I think pin up art is an escape from
real life.
6. Define what "sexy" means to you.

Hmmm i'm not sure, but a confident attitude, healthy body image and
perfectly applied red lipstick can't hurt!
7. What's your biggest goal/ambition as an artist?

7. What's your biggest goal/ambition as an artist?
Mostly I want to keep drawing what I enjoy drawing and hopefully
get more exposure for my artwork, do some more gallery shows and open
up an Etsy shop. I enjoy my day job for the most part, so finding a
balance between the two is also very important for me.
8. Why do you like drawing ladies?

8. Why do you like drawing ladies?
I have always been drawn to the aesthetics and design of the 1950s,
so that's a big part of it. I also really like the happy, carefree
spirit pin up girls convey.
9. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?

I have always wanted to take a trip across the US, there is so much
to see here!

My favorite artists vary. I'd have to say I love the work of many
of the artists of the golden age of pin up such as gil elvgren, zoe
mozert etc. I also love the art of the northern renaissance painters
such as jan van eyck, Hieronymous Bosch and Robert Campin. Kind of
random, i know!

Snow, Glass, Apples
Acrylic and Digital | BUY PRINT HERE
Initially commissioned as a print for Neil Gaiman's Neverwear site, this project was consequently canceled. But I loved his short story, "Snow, Glass, Apples", and the work-in-progress so much that I finished it up anyway. :) The associated text read:
I like to think she played first with the ribbons, twined them into her raven hair, looped them around her pale neck or her tiny waist,"Snow, Glass, Apples" is © Neil Gaiman.
And then, curious, she moved the cloth to see what else was in the basket; and she saw the red, red apples.
They smelled like fresh apples, of course; and they also smelled of blood. And she was hungry. I imagine her picking up an apple, pressing it against her cheek, feeling the cold smoothness of it against her skin.
And she opened her mouth and bit deep into it...

Another Installment of Dr. Sketchy's Boston!
Dr. Sketchy's has added an additional session each month for the Boston chapter, which makes me super-stoked as I get double the chance for sexy lady drawing! Our model was Malice in Wonderland (who, I'm afraid, does not yet have a page I can link to). I can, however, link to to my blog where you can see the rest of my Malice sketches!

Hello World!
I'm so stoked to be part of the Girls Drawing Girls group! Here's one of the first drawings I'm sharin' with y'all. This is for the fairy tales heroine theme ;) I drew this after I saw Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. (To me, the movie had lots of eye-poking, and thought I'd poke fun at it)

Fairies and angels...
Not for any particular theme but I drew the top for a sketchbook I am selling over on Amazon and the other was a drawing of an angel based on an older piece.

Heathen Hammer
This is for the theme, favorite song lyrics! So I drew a picture based on one of my favorite bands, Týr, a viking metal band. The lyric is "Hold the heathen hammer high with a battle cry, for the pagan past I live and one day will die." I love viking metal!

Hula Hello
First post! Super excited to be part of this blog along with all you fine lady types :D
Hula challenge (a bit late, methinks, but I couldn't pass it up), and I figured I'd use it as an excuse to do one of my gyaru ladies, because who epitomises Hawai'i more than a Japanese yamanba girl in Shibuya? :I
