AMOS Showtime piece

I saw over on fellow GDG member Eliza Frye's blog that she had done this amazing piece for a group show being organized by the German musician, Amos, and dropped them an email asking if they were still looking for artists.

I was -just- under the deadline- they shipped me a blank album cover, and I got to create a design for it! I sent it off today; a day late, but then again, I just got the cover on Saturday!

It was a pretty fun project- the album covers will tour around different galleries across Europe and be available for sale in person and online.

I'll definitely post more details once they receive it and post it on their site! : D

About Girls Drawin Girls:

Girls Drawin Girls ( www.girlsdrawingirls.com ) was founded in 2006 by Simpsons veteran Melody Severns, who started GirlsDrawinGirls as a way to showcase female artists working in the male-heavy animation industry. She felt it was time for these talented women to demonstrate their creative abilities and their own personal vision of sex appeal by treading upon the male domineered field of pin up art.

Since it’s conception, the group has published two volumes of pin-up art and grown to over 30 active members, whose work has been showcased in various entertainment industries, from production design, film and television animation, to graphic design.

About Meltdown Comics: Meltdown Comics (www.meltcomics.com) is the largest comic book shop on the West Coast, located in the heart of Hollywood on Sunset Blvd. Meltdown opened in 1993 and has since become one the most respected comic book stores in the world. Big thanks to DJ Poptart for spinning Friday night, our two bartenders for volunteering their time and pouring skills, Anne Walker for helping to organize everything, and especially Bodega Winebar for the wine and use of their space. GDG- Too Hot For Nickelodeon show a success!

Thank you to everybody who braved the miserable weather last Friday night, Febuary 6th, to come to Girls Drawing Girls' "Too Hot For Nickelodeon!" art reception in up in Burbank, CA.

As some of you may know, we had a month-long show and Friday night reception planned at Nickelodeon Animation Studios, only to have it cancelled at last minute for our PG-13 rated artwork being deemed too scandalous. Never ones to give up, we moved our reception and artwork to one of our gal's apartments, and held our own art reception!

The art looked great and we pulled off a wonderful reception! Now to look forward to next month's group show at Bodega Wine bar in Santa Monica, CA!
