Egyptian painting progress

I'm currently working on a piece for Cactus Gallery's upcoming Bug themed show: I'm doing a piece about egyptian scarabs...

Original concept:

First pass (end of first day) Her skin had a blue undertone- wish I had taken a pic of it then, since it looked cool. Tweaked composition to match square wood panel, and am adding in an egyptian styled background:

Second pass (end of second day): Still figuring out what to do with the border space (black? spray gold? papyrus paper?).
