Lil' Mermaids a sparklin'

I recently did a slew of tiny colored mermaid illustrations for Cactus Gallery's Small Works show.

Each mermaid is around 2.5"x3", framed, and embellished with glitter and swarovski crystals.  That's right. Mermaids. And sparkleys. COMBINED.

Comfort Coffee

This drawing is a few months old and these ladies aren't directly Dorthy and Rose, but I 100% assure you that the drawing comes from a pure love for the Golden Girls. Although coffee as comfort food is a little more Gilmore than Golden, so I might have to save face and draw Sophia and Blanche bathing in cheesecake before the week is over!

Cave Girls

Bonus drawing with a cat scan! My kitten Inky is apparently is a mutant cat with 5 paws. 

(FYI, this is the same little kitten I found under my car at our GDG Party back in August:

if you were there you might remember him as he was quite a hit!)

Monster Stingray Mermaid

I saw this awesome program on TV that was about these monster freshwater stingrays in Thailand. These things are INCREDIBLE: seriously massive. Anyway, inspired this mermaid drawing here... it's sort of a baby monster stingray... : D enjoy!

GDG's Daisy Church on Sketch Theatre!

Sketch Theatre has some AMAZING videos of super talented artists drawing stuff and being filmed in time lapse.

I was honored to be able to draw for them at their booth at SDCC this year; I did a second pin-up piece too; I'll be sure to link to that when that goes live as well!

GDG 2010 Art Calendar inspired pinata!!

So, those of you who managed to purchase the SUPER AWESOME Girls Drawin Girls 2010 Art Calendar will no doubt recognize my lovely pin-up art for the month of October- a Day of the Dead girl. (and YES, i know Dios de los Meurte is Nov 1-2. You'll just have to deal ; )

Well, I had a wonderful admirer of my work purchase the original painting, and ask my permission if he could one day design a pinata based off/inspired by her (to which I responded, "hells yeah!").

My friends, that day is NOW. (although, he says he's not calling this one technically a Pinata. But I like to think it is!)
