The rare times that I get to sit at home and doodle while watching tv are few and far between. But lately I've been trying to use them to good effect..at least by my standards. Here's one of the latest:
I have to remember to bring a sketchbook to the Pasadena Rock'n Comic Con so that Melody and I can fully entertain ourselves while working the GDG booth. Be sure to come by and say hello to us on Saturday between 10am-2pm! We'll laugh maniacally at you!

2009 Pasadena Chalk Festival- wrap up!
A big shout-out to our wonderful and talented members who braved the misting rain Saturday and the blazing sun this weekend at the 2009 Pasadena Chalk Festival to help create GDG's entry, "The Queen of Tarts!"
(The piece is a bit of promotion for our new GDG Playing Cards (details to follow) and our third book, which will be dessert themed)
We didn't win first, but we had an amazing time being filmed for National Geographic's NGWow documentary series, and we're really proud of our piece- it looked really great!
A huge congratulations to Animation Alley's winners, The Society of Children's Writers & illustrators. They had a great entry! Also, a big thanks to all else who participated in the festival- the Chalk Festival works hard to promote public art and the Lightbringer project, which helps raise funds for children in the arts.
Also, a big kudos to Nicole Filiatrault and Anne Walker, who donated paintings of Gigi for the Festival's silent auction.

Girls Drawing Girls at the 2008 Pasadena Chalk Festival
GirlsDrawinGirls Pasadena Chalk Festival piece we did this past June of '08. It was fun, we went with a fairy tale theme to go along with our GDG Vol. 2 book, which is also Fairy Tale themed.

2006 Pasadena Chalk Festival- GDG Wins best in show!
It was a great experience at the 2006 Pasadena Chalk Festival despite the hot sun bearing down on us and the crouching down on the sidewalk. I really feel as if we inspired people to be creative, especially children, which is odd considering GirlsDrawinGirls is coming out with a pin up book next month. The chalk piece itself was very G Rated and depicted our logo girl, "Gigi" in various seasonal backdrops from Spring to Winter.
At the end of the 2 day festival, all 8 gals taking part in this event won the award for "Best in Animation" taking with us free movie passes, free cold stone ice cream, free dinner and live mariache show at a new restaurant in Pasadena, and the most exciting of all, we all won 8 free plane tickets to anywhere jet blue flies. They fly to The Bahamas, so we are all planning a GirlsDrawinGirls trip next February for the 8 of us... WOOO!
All that work in the hot sun definitely paid off. It felt good to be a part of the community and to donate artwork for charity at auction. We even had a little girl draw us fan art!
All in all a wonderful weekend... more about it on girlsdrawingirls.com
